Elegant Retrohemian Chateau: Home Tour, Formal Dining Room
Formal dining rooms aren't as common today as they used to be, and often times, our clients hire us to convert their formal dining room into an in-home office. However, for this social Southern belle, she requested a fresh French redesign of her formal eating area, and that's exactly what we delivered (and we had a blast designing for her!).
With our clean aesthetic, we modernized her classic French style by introducing a modern dining table with a grandiose marble top and stunning brass legs that over time will boast a charming patina. We echoed the clean brass silhouette in the French mirror and buffet lamps while softening these rectangular lines with the curves of the dining chairs and revived buffet. These clean pieces allowed our client's luxe chandelier and collection of fine China to truly shine. She was graciously open to how we hung her china in a fluid motion to play off of the towering ceiling heights and to highlight the velvet drapes.
What detail do you appreciate the most?
A few side notes:
1.) Rachel Ashwell of Shabby Chic has a few pieces of this client's collection.
2.) The buffet is an antique, and its brass hardware was originally cloaked in paint when our client first purchased it. Our fantastic furniture restorer worked his magic on this one and returned the hardware to its formal glory.
3.) Our client's china collection boasts pieces from France, Germany and Austria!
Check back with us next week where we'll be revealing more rooms from our Elegant Retrohemian Chateau on our blog. Missed the Family Room reveal? Click here to check it out. Merci Beaucoup!
